2026 Plein Air Festival

Now an annual fixture in Gulfport’s arts calendar, the Plein Air Festival celebrates the creativity that defines Gulfport, featuring artists painting live “in the open air” at scenic locations throughout the city, from waterfront views to charming streetscapes.

Throughout the week, participating artists will capture Gulfport’s unique character in real time, creating original works that reflect the energy, color, and coastal charm of our community. The festival culminates in a public exhibition, awards presentation, and collector’s sale, where guests can meet the artists, view finished pieces, and purchase artwork created during the event. Selected works will be evaluated by judges Judith Villavisanis and Margo Dalgetty.

“The Plein Air Festival continues to grow into a signature arts experience for our community,” said Scott Linde, President of the Gulfport Merchants Chamber. “It celebrates artistic creativity, showcases the beauty of Gulfport, and underscores our dedication to supporting artists. Artist registration is open to creatives 18 and older working in all mediums and substrates. Registration opens November 13, 2025, with a $40 fee, and closes March 31, 2026. Registration also includes a special plein air workshop and demonstration led by award-winning artist and instructor Jack Providenti, who originated the Gulfport Plein Air Festival seven years ago.
