GULFPORT, FLORIDA: A group art exhibit from June 1st through June 30th will help celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month, featuring the work of 13 visual artists living and/or working in Gulfport. “ArtOut: LGBTQ Artists in Gulfport” will include selected art work by Diane Bains, Jackie Ballard, Jill Barber, Elissa Cardamone, Michael Chapman, Eagle Finegan, Cheryll Grogan, Jeanne Heywood, Carole Lore, Brenda McMahon, Hugo Porcaro, John Shevlin and Mel Zodda. Media represented in the exhibit will include acrylics, oils, watercolors, stained glass, blown glass, ceramics, photography, mixed media and more.
The work will be on display in the atrium space of Gulfport Public Library, 5501 28th Avenue South. An opening reception will be held at the Library on Thursday, June 1st at 7 p.m. Complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvre will be offered. The reception is free and open to the public.
“ArtOut” is presented by the LGBTQ Resource Center at Gulfport Public Library. The Center was established in 2015 to provide specialized library collections and programs to the LGBTQ community, and is the first of its kind in a public library setting in Florida. The Center is a project of the non-profit Circle of Friends of the Gulfport Public Library.
